What are the attributes of a good design?

Tom Greever poses the question "What makes a good design good?" in his book Articulating Design Decisions. Some of the common answers he gets are about simplicity, good use of space etc. I believe that good design is objective i.e. when everything in a design is intentional and based on a sound logic through testing, user feedback etc. This makes the design less prone to being overridden due to subjective elements.

According to the author, good design is one that...

  • solves a problem
  • is easy to use
  • is supported by everyone (stakeholders)
