Cathedral Effect explains how our environment affects our productivity

By formal definition, Cathedral Effect explains the relationship between ceiling heights and cognition. High ceilings promote abstract thinking and creativity while low ceilings promote concrete and detail-oriented thinking.

High ceilings inspire a feeling of freedom while low ceilings feel confining.

This concept can be extended to mean that our physical environment affects our emotions, creativity and thinking. That is why we focus on investing in things like better lighting, better desk and chair setups etc.
